Moore’s Law
The co-founder of Intel, Gordon Moore, came up with the law of his namesake in 1965. He stated that every two years, the number of transistors on a microchip will double, meaning that the size of transistors will be halved, and this has held true till date. However, a great issue that arises from the truth of Moore’s Law is that soon enough, transistors would be so small that there would be virtually no way to make them smaller. Transistors are currently a size at the order of magnitude of atoms, and making them smaller would actually cause them to be less efficient because of a wacky effect known as quantum tunneling.
