Quantum Computers (Quantum Physics - Summer 2023 bootcamp submission)

What is a Quantum Computer?

A Quantum Computer is a normal Computer that uses the benefits of the quantum world (Small as atoms or even smaller!)  A quantum computers use benefits like quantum entanglement, quantum tunneling, superposition and maybe even more! :O Using a Quantum computer for math and medicine is WAY more effective than using a lame, boring, crusty computer.

What is this Quantum stuff?

Well it’s properties the quantum world has or the smaller world has. Like quantum entanglement is when a special photon (A particle of light) is split, and they get entangle or they are connected. And quantum tunneling is when a particle can pass thru walls :O. But of course us boring humans have a VERY  small chance of that happening :(. Anyway superposition is when a particle is 1 and 0 (1 and 0s are computer language) Using superposition we can compute  BIGGER  numbers. YAY!

MORE about ENTANGLEMENT!

Entanglement is when a special photon is split with a laser beam and become 2 photons that are automatically entangled. Like 2 identical twins . And if you study 1  of the 2 entangled photons you can get to know some information about the other 1 not also some :0. This could be useful if we send 1 of the entangled photons into a VERY distant and mysterious galaxy and we want to know how it was in the beginning and what changed. All we have to do is study the 1 part of the entangled pair that we kept on earth and then we will know what change the photon experienced!

MORE about QUANTUM TUNNELING!

Quantum tunneling is when a particle passes thru a wall. Now you might be thinking , WAIT! Can we boring humans pass thru walls! :O  Sorry but no you will have to remain as boring humans. And a particle has one in a hundred billion chance of  that happening and us humans have MILLIONS  of particles and atoms. So it’s impossible. With help from iflscience :O

MORE about SUPERPOSITION!

Superposition is when a particle is in multiple states until it’s “measured” . Well what do I mean by measured well I don’t know neither do scientists for now. An example of superposition is Schrodinger's Cat! :O One day Schrodinger thought of a way to kill his cat (I have no idea why). He thought what if I put my cat in a box with a machine that has a 50-50 percent to release a toxic gas to kill his cat :<. He thought until he opens the box the cat is half dead and half alive but when he does open the box the cat is in a definite state.

Why is quantum computing important to us?

Quantum computers can help us improve our technology to work faster, longer, and better than our computer today like the one you are probably reading this on. Using quantum computers we can use the benefits of the the quantum world that it has to offer. Quantum computer might make us be able to find the cure to cancer or figure more about black holes or can energy be made. And LOTS  more. Using quantum computers might help us get closer to answers.

 Who do quantum computers help?

Well mostly scientists, doctors, and mathematicians at the moment. Quantum computers can help scientists by simulation different theories and improve them. And quantum computers help mathematicians by computing complex numbers. And finally doctors by trying medicines and vaccines on a application and the whole time not risking people's lives.
